Position Summary

The Student Success Advisor, in collaboration with the Director of the Student Success Center and under the SDSU Global Campus Senior Associate Dean & AVP of Student Affairs, provides advising and success coaching to students enrolled in Global Campus programs.

The Student Success Advisor is housed in the Global Campus-Student Success Center and will promote and foster academic success, leadership, personal development, and professional growth; cultivate community for students through the committed, collaborative, effort and support of faculty, staff, co-curricular activities, and the greater San Diego community; and create, collaborate on and implement programs and services which aid in the recruitment, retention, success and graduation of Global Campus students.

Success Advisors are responsible for proactively connecting with an assigned caseload of students to provide advising, mentoring, and success planning that supports students in reaching their personal and academic goals. Using institutional platforms and early alert systems, Student Success Advisors will conduct targeted interventions to support and advocate for students who require additional assistance.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits-eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Education and Experience

Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent to two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master’s degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,841 per month.

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,841.00 - $6,884.00 per month.
