Position Description The Department of Biology at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Academic Year) with the appointment starting in Fall 2025.

The Position We are seeking a faculty member capable of teaching, mentoring, and conducting research with undergraduate and Master’s students from diverse backgrounds. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active, extramurally funded research program that leads to peer-reviewed publications. The faculty member will be expected to serve the university and the community.
We seek a teacher and scholar focusing on cellular processes, which could include cell biology, human physiology, toxicology or other related fields. The candidate must be able to teach an upper division course in an array of classes such as Cell Biology, Immunology or Endocrinology along with other upper division and graduate-level courses (potentially including new courses) in their specialty, as well as lower division and general education (non-major) classes. The successful candidate will receive startup funds and lab space to establish their research program. Preference will be given to applicants with a record of excellence in supporting students who identify with historically minoritized groups in learning, including using evidence-based pedagogical techniques and mentoring practices.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
- A Ph.D. in Biology or a related field
- Scholarly and professional competence in the field of cell biology or related fields as demonstrated by a record of research publications and/or grant funding
- At least one year of teaching and/or TA’ing experience at the college level.
- Applicants must have experience in working with students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant postdoctoral experience
- A successful track record of mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
- A record of teaching students from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural and academic backgrounds.

Additional Information The Assistant Professor (Academic Year) classification salary range is $6,221 to $13,224 per month (12 monthly payments per academic year); The anticipated hiring salary is $7,100 to $7,263 per month. This position will be commensurate with experience and current CSUDH faculty salaries in the academic department/discipline. Faculty salaries are subject to budgetary authorization and any California State University System faculty contract increases. Summer research grants, moving expenses, start-up funds, and a reduced teaching load may be available.
