We are currently recruiting to fill one Construction Inspector 2 vacancy in our residential construction plan review and inspection team. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in joining the Building Plan Review and Inspection team within DCD’s Building and Fire Safety Division regardless of your level of experience as the vacancy may be filled as a Technician, Construction Inspector 1 or Construction Inspector 2 depending on your qualifications. The department provides development and training through an approved automatic progression process, enabling employees hired as a Technician or Inspector 1 to automatically promote to a Construction Inspector 2 after meeting progression requirements.

The ideal candidate for this position will have three or more years of experience performing residential construction plan review and/or inspection for a government agency with code enforcement authority and possess current International Code Council (ICC) ICC Residential Building Inspector and Residential Plans Examiner certifications.
Depending on qualifications, we will bring you on at one of the following levels in the Construction Inspection series:

CONSTRUCTION TECHNICIAN GENERAL OVERVIEW
This category is designed as a trainee/apprentice position to progress through the construction inspector series. An employee in the Construction Technician classification will develop skills in accomplishing and assisting with on-site inspection or plans review assignments in support of residential construction permit application and construction projects. ($24.35/hr - $34.31/hr)

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR 1 GENERAL OVERVIEW
An employee in the Construction Inspector 1 classification performs basic general plan review and on-site inspection work in support of a variety of residential permit application or construction projects and compliance actions, responds to customer or citizen inquiries and maintains records in electronic and paper formats as required. ($26.25/hr - $37.08/hr)

CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR 2 GENERAL OVERVIEW
An employee in the Construction Inspector 2 classification performs journey level plan review and on-site inspection work in support of all manner of residential building permit application and construction activities, code compliance or other actions to assure compliance with the applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Authorizes issuance or denial of permits and coordinates with other DCD staff to assure that building permits and related applications are processed consistent with adopted procedures and within established time frames. Answers citizen requests for information within established timeframes, performs code research as needed and proposes code, process and procedure changes as needed. ($28.14/hr - $39.78/hr)

Driving Requirements
The successful incumbent must meet the driving requirements of this position and submit a copy a current driving record/abstract (from state of residency) to review for eligibility to drive for Kitsap County prior to employment. The successful incumbent must obtain a valid Washington State Driver's License prior to hire and maintain a satisfactory driving record as outlined in the Kitsap County Vehicle Use Policy.

Construction Inspector 2 . In addition to having at least two ICC certifications at the time of hire all Construction Inspector 2 candidates must complete in in-house training program. Vacation Leave
New employees are credited with 48 hours of annual leave upon hire and will be begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 360 hours from one calendar year to the next. Annual leave accrual will increase upon tenure, as follows:

Upon completion of 3 years: 15 days per year (10.00 hours per month)
Upon completion of 5 years: 20 days per year (13.33 hours per month)
Upon completion of 10 years: 25 days per year (16.67 hours per month)
Sick Leave
All new hires will be credited with 48 hours of sick leave upon hire and will begin accruing at the rate of 8 hours per month starting on their 7th month of employment. Employees may carry over 1200 hours from one calendar year to the next.
