Human Resources Director
Crook County is seeking a Human Resources Director for this fast-growing community located east of the Cascade mountains in Oregon’s scenic high desert. Established in 1882, Crook County is a full-service local government serving a population of 27,527 across 2,978.9 square miles in Central Oregon. Originally organized under a County Court structure of governance, the County transitioned to a Commission-Manager form in 2024. The County is now led by a three-member, full-time Board of Commissioners who have newly created the County Manager position. The County operates with a budget of $154.6 million and a team of 230 FTEs across 23 departments. The County has two collective bargaining units.
THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIRECTOR
The Human Resources Director is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function. Consisting of the HR Director and HR Generalist, the Crook County Human Resources Department fosters workforce excellence through tailored HR support and by cultivating careers and strengthening community. The County’s goal has been to innovate, increase access to services and programs that develop employees, and support the County as it enters a period of tremendous growth and change.
