PUBLIC HEALTH, CALIFORNIA CHILDREN'S SERVICES
The California Children's Services Program is a mandatory County service as stipulated in Health and Safety Code starting with Section 123845 of which physical and occupational services are included as described in Government Code starting with Section 7570. T herapist applies intervention in a clinical setting, monitoring and education to families carrying out in-home home therapy and general case management of those children in collaboration with various medical specialty centers. Develops and initiates client specific treatment plans, participate in local education IEPs, conducts in home functional assessments, assesses and fabricates applications for functional adaptation, creates and maintains intervention records, input and retrieve health care reports in a designated EMR. May participate in telehealth video encounters.
THE OPPORTUNITY The Physical Therapist will have the opportunity to plans perform and direct physical therapy for han dicapped persons, primarily children, and participates as a team member with physi cians, parents and others in furthering the child's neuro-muscular development.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to: - Evaluate motor and development skills and explain results of evaluation to physicians, parents and teachers; determine goals for ongoing treatment.
- Instruct parents in activities and exercises which encourage development of skills or remediate or prevent problems.
- Organize and participate in children's clinics.
- Provide gait training to children, including helping them with the use of assisting devices such as walkers and crutches; provide wheelchair skills training.
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises to improve strength, range of motion and balance.
- Determine the need for and fit of adaptive equipment such as standers, walkers, wheelchairs and other mobility and positioning devices.
- Observe and make verbal and written documentation of patient progress.

Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following recommendations: - Must possess or be able to obtain registration as a physical therapist issued by the State of California.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Sufficient education and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and skills outlined below.
Knowledge of: - Principles, practices and methods of physical therapy.
- Objectives of physical therapy treatment.
- Diagnostic and prognostic tests used in evaluations.
- Neuro-muscular function and dysfunction, including skeletal and muscular anatomy.
- Kinesiology and modalities of treatment.
- Psychological problems of the handicapped and their families.
- Construction, use and care of orthopedic appliances and equipment.
Skill in: - Performing evaluative tests of physical abilities.
- Instructing and assisting with therapeutic exercises.
- Explaining and interpreting tests, diagnoses, objectives and methods to patients, parents and school personnel.
- Working as a team member in the therapy effort to ensure carry over in the treatment and training of patients.
- Integrating physical therapy activities with other medical and developmental programs.
- Preparing accurate and complete case notes, correspondence, reports and other written materials.
- Using initiative and sound judgment within established guidelines.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months for locations in Placerville, Ca. We currently have the following vacancy:
- One (1) extra help vacancy in the Health and Human Services Department, Public Health Division, located in Placerville, CA.
Extra help vacancies are made to maintain adequate coverage of work for short periods of time at frequent intervals, where employment is of a recurrent nature depending on the needs of the Agency; work may be seasonal, on-call, and/or for a limited duration. Extra help employees are not considered regular employees, therefore do not attain civil service status, and do not receive benefits or paid leaves; however, they do accrue sick leave consistent with the law.
