Are you ready to join the nation's largest County Recreation Agency?
The Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) is seeking to hire the County’s first Tribal Liaison. This position will be located within the DPR's Planning and Development Agency with frequent time spent in the field collaborating with Park’s operational and programming staff, including Superintendents of each of the DPR's Regional Facilities and Nature Centers.

What you will do:
In collaboration with Natural Areas staff and the Planning and Development Agency, the Tribal Liaison will be responsible for policy development and outreach activities dedicated to the cultivation and implementation of effective and inclusive relationships between the Department and California Native American tribes and tribal communities.

Requirements

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

Option 1:
Two years' experience in the development and implementation of nature related programs, -AND- One year of experience in coordinating the development and implementation of plans between organizations and tribal communities on projects, initiatives, or policy matters.
-OR-
Option 2:
Two years' experience in the supervision of the maintenance operation of a nature center or natural areas environment in a governmental agency, -AND- One year of experience in coordinating the development and implementation of plans between organizations and tribal communities on projects, initiatives, or policy matters.

Desired Qualifications:LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS: 3 - Moderate. This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience and desirable qualifications based on the application information and supplemental questionnaire, weighted 100%.

Candidates must meet the Selection Requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination to be placed the Eligible Register.
Applications will be processed on an as-received basis and promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION: The names of candidates receiving a passing score in the examination will be added to the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
