Definition

Under the supervision of the Director of Special Services, the Occupational Therapist assesses, identifies and provides services to students with disabilities in the areas of fine/gross motor skill development, sensorimotor integration, self-care, and activities of daily living. This job class provides training and collaboration with school site and Individual Education Program (IEP) teams and other district personnel. The incumbents in this classification provide the school community with occupational therapy that supports, facilitates, and promotes student learning.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field from an accredited college or university is required. Master’s degree in a job-related area is preferred.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
One (1) year of experience providing occupational therapy services for children from birth to age 22, in a school setting working with a multi-disciplinary team. Experience working collaboratively with families and individuals from various ethnic and cultural groups.

SALARY SCHEDULE:
Classified Salary Range: 68
Work Calendar: 211 Days
Work Location: Roving - Various Sites
Work Hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm (8 hours/day)

Examination Process

3. A copy of official college transcripts or a copy of a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
4. Valid license from the California Board of Occupational Therapy (CBOT)
5. First Aid/CPR Certification

*PC RULES 5.2.1.2 -5.2.1.2 - In-house employees will have first consideration for the position. If sufficient candidates are not available to complete the three ranks, the Personnel Commission will move to include outside candidates.

The examination process will include screening to ensure applications are complete and meet all minimum qualifications. No additional information will be accepted from applicants once the application has been submitted. Only the most qualified applicants, who pass the minimum qualifications review, will be invited to the examination process.
The examination process will include the rating of a supplemental questionnaire (weighted at 100%). Those candidates achieving a minimum passing score of 70% will be placed on the eligibility list and the top three (3) ranks will be forwarded to the hiring authority for final interview and selection.

The Eligibility List is valid for one (1) year from the certified date.
