Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556/Monthly

Work Schedule : Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; exempt classification.

Essential Functions : Under the direction of the Associate Director of Recruitment, the incumbent is responsible for providing information regarding California State University admission policy and requirements, developing relationships with prospective students, parents, the on and off campus community, and encouraging qualified students to apply, and enroll at Cal State LA. The incumbent is also responsible for visiting high schools and community colleges for making group presentations, assisting prospective students, meeting counselors and other school staff. S/he will represent the University at college nights, college fairs and career day events, virtual activities and other recruitment and enrollment related activities; provide unofficial transcript review when appropriate; advise clients on appropriate major based on interest, experience, personal circumstances, and previous academic records. Responsible for the implementation of all recruitment activities (visits, college fairs, CSU presentations, and other traditional and non-traditional recruitment opportunities) at assigned schools/regions. Provide counseling to prospective applicants, and in some cases parents, on a wide variety of topics including admission requirements, university policies, majors and careers, costs and financial aid, and special programs. Provide quality customer service, assisting students, parents, counselors, and others with Cal State LA-related matters as requested. Research and respond to inquiries and assist with resolution of concerns as appropriate. Assist in the hiring, training, and providing work direction to student ambassador staff that are placed at local high schools and community colleges. Assist in the development of a comprehensive training program for ambassador staff as well as on-going staff development. Serve as Cal State LA liaison for on- and off campus partnerships as assigned, including but not limited to the College Board, CSU initiatives, special university community collaborations, high schools, and community colleges. Provide assistance in the planning and coordination of special events such as preview days, counselor conferences, counselor workshops, yield activities, and other events. Responsible for conducting continuous awareness and follow-up for all prospects, applicants and admits in order to increase the enrollment yield. Regularly correspond with prospective applicants through e-mail, telephone and via social media campaigns. Assist in the development of such efforts as requested.

Required Qualifications & Experience : Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis. Equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for future growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. The incumbent must demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills. The incumbent must have the ability to speak in public forums and conduct presentations. Access to a reliable form of transportation is required in order to travel. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position.

Desired Qualifications : Direct experience working with the recruitment of multiple constituencies including students of color, underrepresented students, and/or undocumented students.
