The City of Irvine is seeking an intern toassistthe Communications & Engagement Department with newsletters, social media,events, multimedia production,digitalorganization, and websitedesign andcontent.
The selected student or recent graduate will gain hands-on experience supporting the City’s efforts to sharetimely,accurate, and engaging information with residents, visitors, businesses, and community partners.
This internship is unpaid. A minimum commitment of 15-20 hours per week for six months isrequired.
Your Impact: - Assistwith the preparation and distribution of citywide newsletters.
- Support social media platforms and scheduling tools.
- Assistwith event-day and post-event production.
- Post updates to the City’s intranet.
- S upport special projects and community outreach efforts.
- Create and update resource materials.
- Assistwith photography and videography assignments, including drone projects.
- Tag andorganizeimages in the City’simagedatabase usingPhotoShelter.
- Support publication layout and design.
- Assistwith website content updates and maintenance using Drupal.
- Assistwithwebsite redesignand improvements.
- Assistwithcontentupdatesfor the City App.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: - Completion of at least two years of college-level coursework in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, digital communications, or a related field.
- Proficiencywith workplace technology, including Microsoft OfficeSuite.
Best Fit: - Strong writing skills and familiarity with social media, newsletters, publications, and websites.
- Knowledge of andproficiencywith Adobe products, including publication layout and design software.
- Experience with photography and videography.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to remain organized while managing multiple assignments and deadlines.
- Proficiencywith workplace technology, including Microsoft OfficeSuite.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Sound judgment and a professional approach when interacting with City staff and the public.
- A current student or recent graduate studying communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, digital communications, or a related field.
