The City of Rockport is seeking a professional, organized, and customer-focused Short-Term Rental Specialist to help administer and support the City’s Short-Term Rental Program.

This position works closely with property owners, property management companies, City departments, and the public to support registration, compliance, tax reporting, inspections, and overall program operations.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Serve as the primary point of contact for short-term rental owners and property management companies.
• Assist with STR registrations, renewals, and questions regarding City policies, ordinances, procedures, and tax requirements.
• Coordinate with the Finance Department regarding tax reporting and remittance.
• Research and identify potentially unregistered or non-compliant short-term rental properties.
• Prepare reports and maintain accurate records related to registration, compliance, and tax remittance.
• Coordinate and assist with inspections alongside Code Enforcement and Development Services.
• Communicate with property owners regarding deficiencies, deadlines, required corrections, and compliance expectations.
• Coordinate with the CVB Tourism Manager on reporting, program information, and marketing efforts.
• Provide professional and responsive customer service to residents, property owners, businesses, visitors, and the public.
• Work collaboratively with City departments to resolve issues and support program operations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively and perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Sufficient experience to understand and perform the essential duties of the position.
• Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License , or the ability to readily obtain one.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Two or more years of experience in administrative support, customer service, regulatory compliance, code enforcement, property management, permitting, taxation, municipal government, or a related field.
• Experience working with the public in a regulatory, permitting, property management, or government setting.
• Registered Code Enforcement Officer certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position includes both office and field responsibilities.

Office work includes regular use of computers, telephones, and standard office equipment and may require extended periods of sitting or standing.

Field work may include:

• Traveling to properties throughout the City.
• Walking on uneven surfaces.
• Standing, bending, stooping, crouching, or climbing steps.
• Occasionally climbing ladders or lifting heavier objects.
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Exposure to noise, dust, dirt, odors, and other conditions associated with property inspections.
• Using appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary.
