Summary of Job Duties:
Join the UAMS Police Department and play an essential role in protecting our patients, employees, students, visitors, and campus community. Working under the general supervision of the Chief of Police and the direct supervision of a Patrol Sergeant, this position promotes a safe and secure environment by enforcing traffic and criminal laws, as well as campus parking regulations. This position operates in accordance with UAMS policies and the standards established by the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. It is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated law enforcement professional who values public service, teamwork, integrity, and community safety.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED PLUS two (2) years of law enforcement experience.
At least 21 years of age
Valid Arkansas driver's license
Certification as a Police Officer through the Arkansas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
Possession of a General Certificate
Ability to walk approximately 8 to 12 miles during a 12-hour shift.
Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs.
Additional Information:
Investigates accidents occurring on campus and completes all required accident reports.
Investigates complaints involving Police Officers or Security Officers assigned to the shift.
Makes arrests when necessary and provides court testimony when directed.
Patrols the interior and exterior of campus buildings while maintaining a highly visible presence.
Checks and monitors campus buildings to help ensure the safety and security of the UAMS community.
Performs traffic-control duties and helps maintain a safe and orderly flow of traffic.
Supervises Patrol Officers and Security Officers when the Shift Lieutenant and Sergeant are unavailable.
Inspects assigned facilities and grounds on foot or by patrol vehicle.
Submits reports regarding department equipment conditions and daily patrol activities to the Shift Supervisor.
Escorts members of the campus community to requested locations.
Provides secure escorts for money transfers to help deter theft, robbery, or injury to members of the UAMS community.
Responds promptly to service calls and prepares accurate incident reports for all relevant situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
