Position OverviewThe Cumberland County Sheriff's Office is looking for Part‑time Patrol Deputies to join our ranks! As a progressive law enforcement agency that promotes a Community Policing philosophy, this part‑time position requires a commitment to work at least 120 hours per year (and offers a maximum of 1,040 hours per year). Pay is $36.72/hr and is eligible for COLA increases.Our dedicated and elite Patrol Deputies protect and serve the citizens and visitors of towns in Cumberland County.ResponsibilitiesPrevent crime by explaining and enforcing applicable federal, state, county, and local laws and ordinances; teaching preventative, protective, and defensive tactics; mediating disputes; patrolling assigned area; responding to notices of disturbances; conducting searches; observing suspicious activities; detaining suspects.Apprehend suspects by responding to complaints and calls for help; observing violations; making arrests.Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence; interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects.And MORE! assisting with a variety of law‑enforcement duties as assigned.QualificationsBe at least 21 years of age.Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.Hold a valid Maine driver's license.Reside in the State of Maine and not more than 15 miles outside the Cumberland County border.Be certified by the MCJA to work as a full‑time patrol officer.If you meet the above requirements, we'd love to see your application!Come join our team and culture of engaged employees.
