Sr Public Information Officer (TEMP)
Description
Overview The Senior Public Information Officer will develop, coordinate, and disseminate critical information to the public and media on behalf of Corpus Christi Water. Responsibilities include writing, editing, and publishing CCW media releases, media advisories, executive talking points, social media posts, and multimedia content. The position will also develop, implement, manage, and promote community outreach initiatives and events related to Corpus Christi Water. The Senior Public Information Officer will review assignments and tasks, provide guidance and feedback to staff, and supervise the work activities of CCW Communications staff in the manager's absence.
Responsibilities • Creates content for communication initiatives for CCW, including high-profile issues, communication and marketing plans, emergency communications, and employee communications
• Writes, edits, and publishes CCW media releases, media advisories, executive talking points, social media posts, and multimedia content
• Develops, plans, and implements community outreach events, including Information Sessions, related to Corpus Christi Water
• Represents CCW at community meetings and events
• Manages media relations for CCW in a positive and cooperative environment
• Answers phone calls and questions, responds to media inquiries, coordinates interviews, monitors media coverage, requests clarifications, and pitches stories to the media
• Reviews assignments and tasks and provides feedback as needed
• Supervises CCW Communications staff work assignments and activities in the manager's absence
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non-Exempt - TEMP - Full-Time - 40-hour work week
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)
• Three (3) years of experience
Licenses and Certifications Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring.

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
