Responsibilities may include developing and managing district training and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures; reviewing complex high risk cases to audit processes and practices.Location: 1821 N 73 St, Omaha, NETravel Expectations:Regular travel within the district to support operations as part of our commitment to active community supervisionOccasional regional travel for orientation, training, and educational workshops.Work Schedule:Core hours are Monday–Friday daytime. As part of our 24/7 commitment to community safety, occasional on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.Salary and Compensation:Starting Salary: $ 76,977.41 annually (Hiring Rate).Immediate Growth*: Earn a 2.5% pay increase after successfully completing your probation period.Starting Rate Flexibility: Higher starting pay may be considered based on education and experience, subject to final management approval.Please Note*: Candidates approved to start above the Hiring Rate (at or above the Minimum Permanent rate) are not eligible for the 2.5% post-probation increase.Future Increases: Annual cost-of-living adjustments (applied on July 1) are subject to State Legislature approval.Job DutiesManages and coordinates assigned district probation staff to include: planning, prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; and implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures.Assists the Chief Probation Officer in the development of policies and procedures for the probation department; participates in the development and implementation of strategic agenda, long range planning and program evaluation.Recommends and oversees the implementation of operating policies and procedures, audits and monitors compliance for district probation activities.Participates in the design, acquisition, and implementation of automation for the probation department.Prepares a variety of reports related to department performance, goals, budget, investigations, personnel, crime statistics, and/or other related issues.Evaluates lower level staff case plans and intervention strategies; ensures a standard of quality and compliance in approved strategies; provides guidance to lower level staff regarding challenging or unique cases.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.The above classification responsibilities represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.Requirements / Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related fields; andExperience: 1 year of supervisory, or management experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.Note: An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be accepted.All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.Knowledge:Managerial principles;Principles, practices and procedures of probation services and administration;Federal, State and local laws, regulations, and procedures;Rules, regulations and procedures of the Probation department;Probations techniques and procedures;Crisis and emergency management principles and practices;Grant administration and preparation;Report writing.Skills:Monitoring and evaluating subordinates;Delegating and prioritizing work;Managing small to large district probation staff;Preparing, reviewing, and approving reports and statistical information and data;Preparing and administering grants;Handling stressful situations;Analyzing, recommending, and implementing changes in policies and procedures;Interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations;Using computers and related software applications;Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.Physical RequirementsIncumbents may be subjected to environmental threats, odors, dusts, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and travel.Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
