What you'll do
- Dispatch personnel and maintain accurate records through telephone, radio, and computer dispatch systems to ensure timely response and coordinated operations
- Provide customer service and respond to inquiries on the Airport Information Line to keep the public informed and supported
- Communicate with and dispatch police officers and maintenance personnel, ensuring the right equipment and resources are deployed to resolve incidents effectively
- Operate technical systems, including fire alarm and suppression systems, Video Management System, Access Control System, 800 MHz Trunked Radio System, and other computer-based systems to support airport safety and monitoring
- Maintain dispatch logs using a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) program and complete clerical work to ensure accurate, compliant records
- Conduct criminal history checks and verify warrant information using REJIS, MULES, and NCIC systems while responding quickly, calmly, and clearly transmitting information during emergency situations

- High school graduation
- Ability to pass a physical and psychological evaluation as prescribed by the City
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to pass background check as prescribed by the City
- Ability to obtain a state certification to operate ALERT II system
- Ability to pass TSA 10-year background check

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
