OUR MISSION

The Sanitation Districts are currently recruiting to fill one (1) Engineering Associate II, III, Mechanical Engineer within Wastewater Management Department within the (Warren Facility).

The Sanitation Districts are a non-civil service public agency with over 1,700 employees, including over 200 engineers. WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT

WARREN FACILITY, CARSON

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform professional engineering work and coordinate progressively more complex projects in the A.K. Warren Water Resource Facility Section.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer, the incumbent will plan, conduct, and support engineering projects related to the operation and maintenance of the specialized mechanical systems and wastewater treatment processes; apply various asset management and reliability strategies to mitigate the risk of system failures; develop and recommend engineering solutions for the facility; interact with other Sanitation Districts’ departments, regulatory agencies, and the public; and perform duties to ensure compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must possess:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience with operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment such as fuel gas compressors, gas and steam turbines, generators, heat exchangers, flares, blowers, air compressors, engines, pressure vessels, and/or HVAC; strong data analysis and data management skills in support of treatment plant operations; experience with capital project planning and implementation; and strong leadership and communication skills to support the implementation of key initiatives involving multiple internal sections, consultants, contractors, regulators, the public, and other external stakeholders; a Bachelor and/or Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering; possession of a Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Mechanical Engineering with the California Board of Professional Engineers.

RETIREMENT





COMPENSATION

Employees receive annual salary increases until reaching step 5 of the salary range and are provided with opportunities to promote. Cost of living adjustments are implemented annually in accordance with labor agreements.

13 paid holidays and one-half paid holiday depending on the employee's work schedule.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT
Employees may be eligible for tuition reimbursement for approved accredited course work.

STUDENT LOAN PAYMENT REIMBURSEMENT
For some bargaining units, the Districts will provide student loan payment reimbursements for principal or interest paid by the employee on a qualified education loan incurred by the employee for the education of the employee. The annual maximum reimbursement is $5,250 and the lifetime reimbursement limit is $21,000.
