CAREER DESCRIPTION

SENIOR TAX SERVICES TECHNICIAN

Salary may be negotiable within the range listed above, based on position requirements and successful candidate's qualifications, subject to appropriate authorization.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
This recruitment will establish an open eligible list that will be used to fill current and future Senior Tax Services Technician positions. The eligible list established may also be used to fill positions in similar and/or lower classifications throughout the County of Orange.

The mission of the Treasurer-Tax Collector (TTC) is to ensure safe and timely receipt, deposit, collection, and investment of public funds. The Treasurer-Tax Collector has an annual operating budget of $17.9 million with approximately 78 employees. The Treasurer also is an ex-officio trustee on the Orange County Employees Retirement System, managing over $19 billion and the banker for the community and school districts in Orange County.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Tax Services Technician will provide customer service to customers at the public service counter, perform property tax collection services, provide property tax information to the public, and assist taxpayers with payment plans, penalty cancellations, tract/parcel map requests, and tax clearance certificates. The incumbent will manage and balance a daily cash drawer, acquire knowledge of general accounting processes and cash handling principles, and may act as a lead for employees in lower-level classifications.

RECRUITMENT PROCESS

Written Exam | Multiple Choice (Weighted 100%)
A written test consisting of job-related questions will be administered. Candidates who pass this test will be referred to the next step. This is a standardized test and there are no study guides available.

Eligible List
Once the assessment has been completed, HRS will establish an eligible list of candidates. Candidates placed on the eligible list may be referred to a selection interview to be considered for present and future vacancies.

Based on the Department's needs, the selection procedures above may be modified. Candidates will be notified of any changes in the selection procedures.
