Position DescriptionTTUHSC is looking for a physician to assist the Program Director in overseeing program administration, ensuring compliance with ACGME requirements, and championing efforts to advance rural medicine training. This includes developing educational experiences, mentorship, and community partnerships across the program's Rural Track training sites to prepare residents for practice in rural and underserved settings. The physician will also provide compassionate, high-quality clinical care across a broad spectrum of Family Medicine conditions, with a focus on the unique needs of rural populations.

Major/Essential Functions- Contributes to the curriculum development and implementation, in compliance with educational goals and accreditation standards;
- Participates in the recruitment and selection processes for new residents;
- Evaluates resident performance, provide feedback and offer guidance to residents;
- Provides direct teaching to the residents, including inpatient and outpatient rotations;
- Assesses patients through health histories, presenting illness and physical examination;
- Orders laboratory, diagnostic and screening tests;
- Develops and implements treatment plans including medications;
- Educates patients on medications, treatments, wellness and disease management;
- Coordinates care with subspecialists and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams;
- Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records; and
- Participates in quality improvement, continuing education and patient care programs established by the department, clinic and/or hospital.
Occasional Duties
Required Qualifications- MD, DO, MBBS or MBBCh;
- Completion of USMLE Step 3;
- Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME Family Medicine Residency;
- Current Board Certification, or ABMS Board Eligibility with intent to complete certification in the next year, by the American Board of Family Medicine; and
- Must hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Texas.
